Health and Nutrition

Our Approach

At Landsdale School of Early Learning, we believe that food is more than just nourishment,  it is an important part of a child’s wellbeing, development, and daily experience.

We aim to create a home-like environment, where mealtimes are calm, relaxed, and enjoyable. Just like in a family home, children are encouraged to take their time, engage in conversations, and develop a positive relationship with food.

Working in Partnership with Families

We value family input and welcome feedback on our menu and children’s individual needs. Whether it’s dietary requirements, cultural preferences, or sharing what your child enjoys at home, we work closely with families to create consistency between home and our service.

Daily Meal Times

We offer a full day of nutritious meals and snacks to support children’s energy and wellbeing:

  • Breakfast (Early Birds): 6:30am – 7:00am

  • Morning Tea: 9:00am

  • Lunch: 11:00am

  • Afternoon Tea: 2:00pm

  • Late Snack (Late Stayers): around 5:15pm

All meals are freshly prepared onsite by our dedicated kitchen team.

Our Kitchen

Our kitchen is truly the heart of our service. We have a dedicated, on-site Food Coordinator who prepares meals daily, ensuring children receive food that is nutritious, balanced, and made with care.

Our menus are seasonally planned and regularly updated, offering a variety of delicious cuisines that encourage children to explore new tastes and textures. All menus are developed in line with the Get Up & Grow healthy eating guidelines, ensuring children are receiving balanced nutrition across all food groups.

Meet Our Kitchen Team

Roshni – Food Coordinator
Roshni brings a genuine passion for food and creativity into our kitchen. She holds a Certificate IV in Patisserie and has experience working across a range of professional kitchens, including boutique bakeries and large-scale hospitality environments such as Crown Perth.

Her background has given her strong skills in food preparation, presentation, and maintaining high standards of hygiene and organisation. Roshni loves creating meals that are both nutritious and enjoyable, encouraging children to explore new flavours and develop a positive relationship with food from a young age.

She takes great pride in everything she prepares and brings a calm, caring presence into the kitchen each day.

Lisa – Sous Chef (Fridays)
Lisa has been part of our journey since we opened and is a much-loved member of our team. With over 15 years of experience working in school canteens, she brings a wealth of knowledge, care, and consistency into the kitchen.

Lisa is warm, bubbly, and absolutely adores the children — something they truly feel in every interaction. She joins us on Fridays, helping us end the week on a high with her positive energy and delicious meals.

Gardening & Food Experiences

Our approach to nutrition extends beyond the kitchen. We have a range of vegetable gardens and fruit trees throughout our outdoor environments, providing children with hands-on opportunities to learn about where food comes from.

Gardening is a meaningful part of our program, where children explore plant life cycles, sustainability, and healthy eating habits. Children are often involved in harvesting produce, which is then used in food experiences where they can prepare, taste, and experiment with fresh ingredients.

We even share some of our homegrown fruits, vegetables, and herbs with families — extending the experience beyond our service.

Allergies & Dietary Requirements

We take allergies and dietary requirements extremely seriously.

  • Individual risk minimisation plans are in place for children with allergies or medical needs

  • Strict food safety and allergy-aware practices are followed at all times

  • To ensure the safety of all children, we ask that no outside food is brought into the service (unless discussed and approved with management)
